After surgery, we recommend starting to eat easily digestible soup options such as the egg drop soup and chicken soup. Ice chips are also great to start to get the digestive track rolling before drinking lots of water as this may increase feelings of nausea. No raw veggies off the bat as these can be harder for the body to digest.
After the first several days it's common not have much of an appetite, so it's recommended to start with small snacks and meals high in protein and vitamin C, such as oranges, cottage cheese, pumpkin seeds, hard boiled eggs and adding 1 TBS of chia seeds to a water bottle. As you start to feel stronger with each passing day, start to increase portion sizes and routine Level 1 snacks and meals. Set the expectations to not pay attention to weight on scale until body re-stabilizes!
