Why is Betr Omitting Iodized Salt?

At Betr, we prioritize our customers’ health above all else. To that end, we’ve decided to omit iodized salt, or salt that has been fortified with iodine. High levels of sodium in iodized salt can create inflammation and raise blood pressure, both of which we want to avoid for our customers.

But isn’t iodine a beneficial nutrient? Absolutely! Iodine is a trace mineral that helps regulate the thyroid, support tissue repair, balance metabolism, and promote growth and development. It’s also said to help strengthen hair follicles.

So How Can You Ensure Your Body Gets Enough Iodine?

Fortunately, there are plenty of foods that are great sources of iodine. Pink Himalayan sea salt, eggs, cod, shrimp, oysters, garlic, seaweed, and sesame seeds are all packed with iodine, so you don’t need to worry if you’re not consuming iodized salts.

Conclusion

We understand that cutting out iodized salt might feel like a sacrifice, but we believe it’s the best way to ensure that our customers remain healthy and safe. As long as you eat the right kind of food, you’ll still get plenty of iodine and the other beneficial nutrients found in iodized salt.
